From the Studio of Arnold Friberg

February 15, 2017 - May 13, 2017

For the first time on public display, visitors have a rare glimpse into the artistic process of one of Utah’s most well-known and celebrated artists, Arnold Friberg.  Born in 1913, Friberg is perhaps best known for his 1975 painting The Prayer at Valley Forge, depicting George Washington kneeling in prayer, as well as his illustrations for Cecil B. DeMille’s The Ten Commandments and The Book of Mormon.

This exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at the sketches that adorned Friberg’s studio walls and the items he used for reference and study. Drawn directly onto the Friberg studio walls, these works in progress encourage us to see beyond the Masterpieces and explore the raw process behind their creation.
